Americans are hopeful about what 2019 has in store for themselves and—to a lesser extent—for the country. More than three quarters (76%) of adults in the U.S. in a new Axios|SurveyMonkey poll say they are more hopeful than fearful about what 2019 has in store for them personally, up five percentage points from last year (71%).
People are less confident when thinking bigger:
- 51% are more hopeful than fearful about what 2019 has in store for the world in general
 - 65% expect 2019 to be a good year for the U.S. economy
 - 54% expect 2019 to be a good year for Democrats in Congress
 - 46% expect 2019 to be a good year for Republicans in Congress
 - 43% expect 2019 to be a good year for President Trump
